Description
Verdigris Coarse is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated and high quality single source pigment mixed only with pure honey and ground extra coarse for extreme granulation. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, hand packed, filled, and labeled — ensuring maximum pigment concentration without any binders, fillers, or extenders. Our unique formula uses only one pigment and pure local honey, delivering a maximally concentrated watercolor paint.
Verdigris is a stunning, historic green-blue pigment made from copper acetate, renowned for its luminous, translucent glow and ethereal patina-like tone. Once favored by medieval and Renaissance artists for its brilliance and intensity, Verdigris was commonly used in manuscript illumination, frescoes, and early oil painting. Our handmade watercolor version captures the essence of this iconic pigment using a single high-quality verdigris source, offering a vibrant, cool green with soft granulation and fluid transparency. Verdigris layers beautifully for atmospheric effects, botanical detail, and antique-inspired palettes. While more delicate than modern greens, its haunting beauty and historic depth make it a prized choice for fine art and historical work.
