About Morrow Archival
At Morrow Archival, we revive the colors of the past for artists of the present.
Our paints are hand-crafted in small batches using rare, natural pigments and time-honored techniques rooted in centuries of artistic tradition. Every pan of watercolor begins with raw, unadulterated materials minerals, plants, insects, and earth sourced with care and transformed using both historical recipes and modern scientific testing.
We believe that art deserves color with a story.
From fermenting madder roots for rich crimson lakes to extracting ultramarine from genuine lapis lazuli, our process is slow, intentional, and grounded in deep respect for material history. We don’t cut corners. We mull each batch by hand with local honey and natural gum arabic, ensuring depth, texture, and vibrancy that synthetic hues can’t replicate.
But history alone isn’t enough. Every pigment is tested for lightfastness, purity, and stability to meet the demands of contemporary artists. Our goal is to bridge old and new, offering materials that are not only beautiful and rare, but trustworthy and archival-grade.
We are a small, independent studio with a passion for pigment alchemy, historical fidelity, and the science of color. Whether you’re painting illuminated manuscripts, botanical studies, or modern abstracts, we invite you to explore the palette of centuries.
Welcome to Morrow Archival, where tradition meets technique, and color comes to life.
