Description
Synthetic Alizarin Orange is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated and high quality single source pigment mixed only with pure honey. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, hand packed, filled, and labeled — ensuring maximum pigment concentration without any binders, fillers, or extenders. Our unique formula uses only one pigment and pure local honey, delivering a maximally concentrated watercolor paint.

Alizarin Orange is an exceptionally vivid, powerful orange watercolor made from pure alizarin, the same historic compound that revolutionized color in the 19th century. First synthesized in 1868 as one of the world’s first synthetic dyes (replacing the laborious extraction of madder root), alizarin became the foundation of a new era of bold, expressive pigments. This orange variant pushes the chroma to its limit—offering a fiery, coppery-orange with striking transparency and staining power.

Unlike modern oranges based on cadmium or azo chemistry, Pure Alizarin Orange has a slightly smoky undertone and fluid character that makes it perfect for glowing glazes, high-contrast blends, and dynamic light effects. It excels in expressive work, abstract pieces, portrait undertones, and botanical studies where warmth and intensity are key. This is not a passive color—it demands attention.
