Description

Red Ochre is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled using only pure local honey and all natural gum arabic to achieve an exceptionally concentrated and richly textured pigment. Every paint is single pigment with maximum concentration and no binders, fillers, or extenders.

Red Ochre features a single, natural earth pigment celebrated for its deep, earthy red tone and exceptional permanence. Sourced from iron-rich clay deposits, this pigment has been used since prehistoric times in cave paintings, iconography, and classical art for its bold yet natural hue. Its warm, rusty undertones make it a versatile base for portraiture, landscapes, and historical palettes. Red Ochre blends seamlessly with other earth tones, offering a grounded richness and subtle granulation that adds depth and warmth. Its semi-opaque coverage and smooth consistency make it ideal for layering, glazing, and dry brush techniques in both traditional and contemporary work.
