Description
Prussian Blue is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled—using only pure local honey and a small amount of all natural, pure gum arabic to achieve an exceptionally concentrated and richly textured pigment.
Prussian Blue is a deep, cool-toned blue with subtle green undertones, made from ferric ferrocyanide. Discovered in the early 18th century, it was the first modern synthetic pigment and quickly became essential in both European and Asian painting traditions. Prussian Blue offers powerful tinting strength, rich transparency, and smooth flow, making it ideal for dramatic skies, shadow work, and moody atmospheric washes. Its unique undertones and historic significance make it a cornerstone of classical and expressive palettes alike.
