Description

Pomegranate Lake is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled—using only pure local honey and all natural gum arabic to achieve an exceptionally concentrated and richly textured pigment. Every paint is single pigment with maximum concentration and no binders, fillers, or extenders.

Pomegranate Yellow Lake is a soft, warm yellow watercolor made from the tannin-rich rind of the pomegranate fruit (Punica granatum), a dye source long used in traditional textiles, manuscript painting, and Ayurvedic art. When extracted and laked with alum, the pomegranate rind yields a golden, slightly olive-toned yellow with gentle transparency and an earthy, luminous glow.

Our Pomegranate Yellow Lake is handmade using historical dye techniques, creating a botanical pigment ideal for florals, antique-style illumination, botanical illustration, and warm natural palettes. It mixes beautifully with madder, indigo, and weld for authentic, historically informed color blending. As a natural lake pigment, it’s delicate and best suited for archival works or portfolios.
