Description
Pomegranate Lake is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated and high quality single source pigment mixed only with pure honey. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, hand packed, filled, and labeled — ensuring maximum pigment concentration without any binders, fillers, or extenders. Our unique formula uses only one pigment and pure local honey, delivering a maximally concentrated watercolor paint.
Pomegranate Yellow Lake is a soft, warm yellow watercolor made from the tannin-rich rind of the pomegranate fruit (Punica granatum), a dye source long used in traditional textiles, manuscript painting, and Ayurvedic art. When extracted and laked with alum, the pomegranate rind yields a golden, slightly olive-toned yellow with gentle transparency and an earthy, luminous glow.
Our Pomegranate Yellow Lake is handmade using historical dye techniques, creating a botanical pigment ideal for florals, antique-style illumination, botanical illustration, and warm natural palettes. It mixes beautifully with madder, indigo, and weld for authentic, historically informed color blending. As a natural lake pigment, it’s delicate and best suited for archival works or portfolios.
