Description

Madder Medium is our exquisitely hand-crafted oil paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every tube is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled using only pure cold-pressed walnut oil (linseed oil available upon request) and the maximum amount of hand-ground and richly textured pigment.

Madder Lake Medium is a luminous, rose-red watercolor made from real fermented madder root (Rubia tinctorum), carefully laked using traditional dye extraction methods. This botanical pigment captures the delicate middle notes of madder’s chromatic range, yielding a fresh, pink-leaning crimson with gentle warmth and exceptional transparency. Historically favored in Renaissance portraiture and botanical illustration, this lighter variant of madder offers refined elegance, making it perfect for skin tones, florals, and luminous glazes.
