Description
Lapis Payne's Grey is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled, using only pure local honey and a small amount of all natural, pure gum arabic to achieve an exceptionally concentrated and richly textured pigment.
Lapis Lazuli is one of the most prized and iconic pigments in the history of art. Made from the semi-precious gemstone mined in the mountains of Afghanistan, this deep, celestial blue was once more valuable than gold and reserved for the most sacred subjects—such as the robes of the Virgin Mary in Renaissance masterpieces. Our Lapis Lazuli Payne's grey watercolor is hand-mulled from high-grade, natural stone, carefully selected to be only the deepest grey stones to yield a soft yet complex grey-blue with delicate granulation and ethereal transparency. This pigment produces gentle, atmospheric washes with a uniquely spiritual character. Ideal for sacred art, botanical studies, and elegant glazes, Lapis Lazuli Payne's Grey offers an unparalleled connection to the ancient and the divine.
