Description

Lapis is our exquisitely hand-crafted encaustic wax paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every encaustic stick is meticulously handmade, poured, and labeled using only pure, filtered beeswax, all natural dammar resin, and the maximum amount of hand-ground and richly textured pigment.

Lapis Lazuli is one of the most prized and iconic pigments in the history of art. Made from the semi-precious gemstone mined in the mountains of Afghanistan, this deep, celestial blue was once more valuable than gold and reserved for the most sacred subjects—such as the robes of the Virgin Mary in Renaissance masterpieces. Our Lapis Lazuli pigment is hand-ground from high-grade, natural stone, carefully purified to yield a soft yet luminous blue with delicate granulation and ethereal transparency. This pigment produces gentle, atmospheric washes with a uniquely spiritual character. Ideal for sacred art, botanical studies, and elegant glazes, Lapis Lazuli offers an unparalleled connection to the ancient and the divine.
