Description
French Ultramarine is our exquisitely hand crafted oil paint made with an extremely concentrated, high quality single source pigment. Every tube is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled, using pure cold pressed walnut oil (linseed oil available upon request), less than 1% fumed silica as a stabilizer, and food grade lecithin as a natural wetting agent. Every paint is single pigment with maximum concentration and no fillers or extenders.
Synthetic French Ultramarine is a vibrant, deep blue oil paint made from a single, high quality synthetic pigment that mirrors the brilliance of the original lapis lazuli based ultramarine at a fraction of the cost. Developed in the 19th century as a breakthrough alternative to rare and expensive natural ultramarine, this color quickly became a staple in the palettes of artists like Van Gogh and Monet. Its intense, slightly violet leaning tone, strong granulation, and excellent transparency make it ideal for bold skies, luminous shadows, glazing, and expressive work. With exceptional lightfastness and a velvety texture, French Ultramarine is a must have for any professional or aspiring oil painter.
