Description

Fra Angelico is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled using only pure local honey and all natural gum arabic to achieve an exceptionally concentrated and richly textured pigment. Every paint is single pigment with maximum concentration and no binders, fillers, or extenders.

Fra Angelico Blue is a radiant, sky-toned blue featured as the heavenly azure seen in early Renaissance frescoes, particularly those of the Florentine monk and painter Fra Angelico. Crafted from a single mineral pigment, this color evokes the purity and grace of celestial robes and divine skies that defined religious art in the 15th century. Our Fra Angelico Blue is made from high-quality natural ultramarine, painstakingly extracted from the finest Lapis Lazuli, offering a luminous, slightly violet-leaning blue with delicate granulation and excellent transparency. With smooth handling and superb lightfastness, this historic pigment is ideal for glazing, layering, and creating spiritual or dreamlike atmospheres. A perfect blend of beauty and tradition, it's essential for artists working in classical or sacred styles.
