Egyptian Fine Smalt is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled using only pure local honey and all natural gum arabic to achieve an exceptionally concentrated and richly textured pigment. Every paint is single pigment with maximum concentration and no binders, fillers, or extenders.


Egyptian Smalt is a unique, captivating blue crafted from ground, glass containing cobalt, a traditional pigment with roots in ancient Egyptian artistry. This pigment offers a subtle, glass blue with subtle transparency and a soft granulating texture, making it ideal for glazing, layering, and achieving a classical, historical aesthetic in your work. Egyptian Smalt is the precursor to the more commonly known European Smalt.
