Description

Egyptian Blue is our exquisitely hand-crafted oil paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every tube is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled using only pure cold-pressed walnut oil (linseed oil available upon request) and the maximum amount of hand-ground and richly textured pigment.

In use, Egyptian Blue gives a bold yet controlled blue ideal for day skies, shallow water, stone, architectural subjects, and atmospheric passages in landscape and historical work. It has moderate tinting strength and a semi-transparent, granulating character, allowing it to shift from textured, stone-like washes to smoother glazes depending on dilution. It mixes beautifully with earths for ancient, fresco-like neutrals, with violets and magentas for moody blue-violets, and with warm yellows and ochres for muted, historical greens that stay soft rather than electric.
