Cobalt Violet Light is our exquisitely hand-crafted oil paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every tube is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled using only pure cold-pressed walnut oil (linseed oil available upon request) and the maximum amount of hand-ground and richly textured pigment.

Cobalt Violet is a luminous, pastel-violet made from a single synthetic cobalt phosphate pigment (Color Index PV 14), prized for its light violet hue. First patented in mid-19th-century Europe as a more permanent alternative to earlier purple lakes, Cobalt Violet offers moderate opacity and gentle tinting strength—ideal for delicate glazes, floral accents, and atmospheric passages. Its fine particle size ensures effortless blending on canvas, while its slow drying time gives you ample working time for smooth transitions and layered depth.
