Chrome Yellow (Zinc Chromate) is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled—using only pure local honey and a small amount of all natural, pure gum arabic to achieve an exceptionally concentrated and richly textured pigment.

This form of Chrome Yellow is derived from zinc chromate, offering a clear, bright lemon-yellow with slightly cooler undertones than lead-based chrome yellows. Known for its strong tinting strength and durability, this pigment delivers a semi-opaque, finely textured yellow that performs beautifully in botanical work, highlights, and historic palettes.
