Description

Brazilwood Lake Pink is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled, using only pure local honey and all natural gum arabic to achieve an exceptionally concentrated and richly textured pigment. Every paint is single pigment with maximum concentration and no binders, fillers, or extenders.

Brazilwood Lake Pink is a glowing, rose-colored watercolor handcrafted from the heartwood of the brazilwood tree (Caesalpinia sappan or Caesalpinia echinata), a historic dye source treasured for its vivid pink-to-red hues. Once traded globally by Portuguese colonizers and used in illuminated manuscripts, textiles, and early painting, brazilwood was so culturally significant that it gave the country of Brazil its name.

Our Brazilwood Lake Pink is made using traditional dye extraction methods and laked with alum to capture the plant's delicate reddish-pink brilliance. The result is a soft, transparent pigment that ranges from pale petal pink to a rich rosé tone depending on application. Ideal for botanical work, glazes, florals, and historical palettes, this color blends effortlessly with madder, weld, and indigo tones for luminous harmony.
