Archil Lichen Lake is our exquisitely hand-crafted watercolor paint made with an extremely concentrated, high-quality single source pigment. Every pan is meticulously hand mulled, filled, and labeled using only pure local honey and a small amount of all natural, pure gum arabic to achieve an exceptionally concentrated and richly textured pigment.

Archil Lichen Lake is a delicate, pink pigment made from the fermentation of Roccella tinctoria, a lichen historically harvested along coastal rocks of the Mediterranean and Canary Islands. This dye was prized from antiquity through the Renaissance for its rare botanical origin and luminous color. Archil produces a soft, transparent pink-purple with gentle granulation and a slightly smoky tone. Ideal for glazing, botanical work, and historical palettes, Archil Lichen Lake brings a rare and elegant plant-based hue to the artist’s hand.
