Description

Our 100% pure, first cold pressed linseed oil is the cornerstone binder for traditional oil painting and handmade paints. Pressed gently below 104°F (40°C) from premium flax seeds, this unrefined oil has a warm golden tone and the strong drying fatty acids that build a robust paint film. Its relatively fast, controllable drying and strong polymer network give durable, flexible films that support rich impastos, smooth glazes, and crisp brushwork while preserving the vibrancy of your pigments over time.

Key Features

First Cold Press: Mechanical extraction under low heat preserves natural tocopherols and minimizes free fatty acid content for longer shelf life.

Faster Drying: Dries more quickly than walnut, safflower, or poppy oil, making it a good choice for building layers and underpainting.

High Polymerization: Rich in alpha linolenic acid (omega 3), it forms a strong, cross linked film that resists cracking and supports long term stability.

Adhesion & Leveling: A medium to high viscosity that grips canvas and panels evenly, then levels to a subtle sheen without brush marks.

Archival Durability: Naturally occurring antioxidants guard against oxidative degradation, ensuring decades of color fidelity.

Storage: Seal tightly and store in a cool, dark place. Avoid heat and direct sunlight to maintain freshness.
