Description
Our 100% pure, first cold pressed walnut oil is a premium binder and medium for your most refined oil paints and painting mediums. Pressed gently at low temperatures from select English walnut kernels, this oil keeps its natural clarity, subtle nutty aroma, and a balance of fatty acids suited to archival film formation. With a moderate drying rate and a low tendency to yellow over time, it allows artists to achieve buttery impastos, seamless glazes, and crisp detail without compromising longevity.
Key Features
First Cold Press: Mechanical extraction below 104°F (40°C) preserves delicate compounds and antioxidants, minimizing free fatty acid content and rancidity.
Low Yellowing: Less linolenic acid than linseed oil and natural tocopherols give a clear film that stays true in whites, pastels, and pale tints.
Balanced Drying Time: Dries more slowly than linseed but faster than safflower or poppy oil, ideal for both wet into wet blending and building translucent glazes.
Viscosity & Leveling: A medium body that grinds well with heavy pigments yet levels without brush marks for a silky finish.
Archival Stability: Naturally rich in antioxidants to guard against oxidative degradation, ensuring decades of color fidelity.
